Fanny Horners Eating Establishment in Mitchell

This has to be the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. My family and I stopped here while passing through town on a road trip. We love eating at local establishments and this place was a mistake. Our waitress was in a bad mood and it showed. We were afraid to ask for straws as simply ordering our food seemed to be an inconvenience. My food was awful, I ate two bites and the waitress never questioned why she was taking away an untouched plate. Very disappointing since there are so many other good reviews for this place.

Best omlett in town and cinnomon/Carmel rolls the size of your head! Great homemade food cooked to perfection!!

If you're wanting FRESH, ma's home cooking, AND not get price gauged, refuse to eat anywhere BUT here! Wonderful food. Fiancé said the salad he had was hands down the freshest and it had a homemade crouton; roast beef on the sandwich was unreal! Delicious 😋

Excellent food and very friendly service. If you’re looking for a good inexpensive meal from a local spot in Mitchell, then Fanny Horner’s is it. Excellent baked potatoes, steamed broccoli and salad if you’re after a healthy meal. They also serve breakfast all day and have an impressive selection of herbal teas. Cute and cozy!

You gotta try their potato soup.

First time eating here, I ordered the chicken stir fry, it was made to order, the veggies were crunchy, the chicken was tender, and the rice was perfectly cooked. The raspberry iced tea is what you'd expect, has a very strong raspberry taste, and is delicious, I'd recommend this place, if you're in Mitchell for any reason, this place isn't one you'd wanna skip

The Staff is friendly and the wait was not long. The food was home cooked, tasted great and was reasonably priced. I would definitely eat here again.

This is a great local owned restaurant. Quality home cooked food and great lunch specials. Thursday is fresh pie day and they make them just like grandma did yummy! The owner is very involved and always greets us with conversations. Great breakfast and lunch!

This restaurant is a couple miles from the interstate, but worth the extra few minutes drive. Staff are attentive and very accommodating. The food was delicious! I would definitely stop here again!!

Stopped in while traveling through, had Reuben sandwich, had 3 bites taste was bad. Would not recommend.

Passing thru the area. This place was recommended. Food was pretty decent. Service wasn't too hot. Had to wait for ever to get drinks. And after we got our meal never came back to get refills. Also asked for check and waited for over 10 minutes for that and never came. Just walked up to cash register to pay. Prices are within reason of other places so wasn't too bad for that. Lots of choices of meals.

Fires workers for getting married. All and all the owner/manager is over controlling causing horrible service I do not recommend

My friend had a corned beef sandwich and a cup of soup and there was only like one slice of corned beef in the sandwich lettuce just about hide it look like a lettuce sandwich.

Service was excellent. Daily specials include drink. Blueberry pancakes were large and had a generous amount of real blueberries.

I read many of the reviews before we visited. Most of you said Breakfast was better than lunch and dinner. So we ordered Breakfast. My Grandma's Skillet had old baked potato reheated. Not flavorful at all. Scratched this one off the list.

When I walked in you could tell it’s a old diner. However very clean and friendly staff. Sarah has been my waitress several times and I absolutely love the breakfast. The hash browns and eggs are done but not burnt or dry. Great cook and service.

This is the best place for liver and onions, or meatloaf, homestyle cooking!

Great breakfast stop for us. We just *had* to see the corn palace, from the outside anyway, and ended up at this well-Yelped diner. Got an omelette and a 2 egg breakfast. Perfect place.

Had dinner it wasn't bad but only one piece of liver for the liver and onion dinner for ten bucks seems kind of steep when a slice of liver is about fifty cents

Don’t wanna be rude. We just had our lunch here and there’s nothing really special about it. Our stir fry chicken wasn’t fresh at all I’m so disappointed with it as well as the portion of the food. You could actually buy frozen stir fry veggies at the store and cook them. And we notice one of their staffs was sniffing. She might need money but she’s working in a restaurant. Overall, we’re not happy for our food. So different from other reviewers here.

Pretty good place. Local. Pros-not a tourist trap, good portion sizes, decent hashbrowns sausage gravy is wonderful, friendly & efficent staff, decent prices, & they know what an over medium egg is. Cons-get there before the church crowd & the cooking is inconsistent from visit to visit.

Very, very good! We had not been to Fanny Horners in quite awhile, will be excited to visit at least once a week. Food is AWESOME, and we really pray you guys stay in business a sdcc we have heard you are selling, 😪😢 love the all day breakfast!! The ham and bean soup is very good as well. Keep up the great endeavor, you are at the top of our list for places to go. Thanks!!!

Food was excellent, and service friendly and prompt. We stopped on a whim on our way through, and we're glad we did. Definitely try the pecan pie.

Had steak and rice both were horrible and steak was the special but was $20.00. Thought home cooking would be a safe call when on vacation.
